Community Life: A call to a common heart

Being Community|Reflections

Community life
Is a coming together of congregational members,
Each bringing the riches and limitations
Of her adult personal life
And her resources as a woman.
(Constitutions p.17)

As Sisters of St Joseph, the understanding of and experience of community is different for each of us. We are united by the common bond of our religious profession and by our free choice to belong to a religious congregation ‘with whose vision, ideals and purposes we identify’.

In practice this means a genuine commitment:

• To live the fullness of the Christian life within this community

• To contribute to the corporate goals and ministries of the congregation

• To share responsibility for the quality of community life and the well-being and happiness of each sister

As Sisters of St Joseph we are committed to ‘loving one another as Christ has loved us’ and to sharing this experience of community in other communities who are open to the Spirit of Jesus – to love, peace and joy.
