Participants
Those who respond to
the invitation to engage in the formation opportunities TWEC offers,
including Spiritual Direction, along with those who come to the
Centre to stay awhile are the heart of the TWEC community. The
ministry exists for them and benefits from their wisdom.

experience of adult faith formation has impacted on the life of some
participants.
Being involved in
the ministry of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, I’m
always trying to encourage the spirituality and prayer life of those
seeking to learn more about the Catholic faith. For me to do this
successfully, my own spirituality needs to be constantly nourished,
and so I am very grateful for the retreat opportunities provided by
TWEC. After spending time in prayer and reflection with the
friendly, caring staff, I return home refreshed in spirit, and
renewed in my commitment to make Jesus known to others. (Loretto)

I began attending
Spiritual Direction through the Tenison Woods Education Centre
in 2001 because it was part of the course requirement for the
‘Christian Formation and Ministry Course’ which I was completing at
the time. Since then Spiritual Direction has become a regular and
much loved practice in my life. I find the opportunity to sit
quietly with a faith-filled person (the Spiritual Director) in order
to reflect gently on my life experiences in the light of my faith
(Spiritual Direction) both challenging and nourishing. It allows me
quality time to reflect deeply on my life experiences and their
meaning which I could otherwise easily miss in the busy pace of
life. Spiritual Direction keeps me gently focused on those areas of
my life where Jesus and I are working together to improve things,
and it constantly calls me back to the joy, love and peace which
lies at the heart of God’s Creation.

The Christian
Formation Course and continued faith formation have given me greater insight and understanding of the Church, its journey and
myself within this body as priest, prophet and king. From this a desire and yearning led me on a journey of
self discovery in relationship
with God, his Son and Spirit in the every-day-ness of my
life. Through this journey I now live each day in "awareness' of how
God scatters my day with moments of grace, through the texts of my
life, confirming and enlightening how I live
and who I am. (Therese)
