Sculptures Unveiled in Penola
A group of Sisters joined other Josephites at Penola on 23 May for the unveiling of sculptures at Fr Woods Park.

Closure of Cessnock Convent
Sunday the 13th June, 2010 saw an impressive gathering of parishioners and Sisters at the Convent on Wollombi Rd, Cessnock to celebrate the closure of this home of the Sisters since 1973.  Click here  for Sr. Ellen's account of the event.

Sr. Katrina Brill speaks at TWEC Dinner
The annual fund-raising dinner for the Tenison Woods Education Centre was held in the Therry Centre East Maitland on Friday 4 June 2010.  Guest speaker Sr Katrina Brill gave an interesting and informative account of “The Ordinariness and Extraordinariness of the Real Mary MacKillop”.  For the text of Sr Katrina’s address click here  and for photos click here.  

Death of Sr Hazel Gilbert
Our dear Sr Hazel died very peacefully on Monday 29th March 2010 in Calvary Retirement Home Allandale, aged 94 years. May she rest in peace.   Obituary

Mary MacKillop to become Australia's first saint.
Pope Benedict XVI has announced that Mary MacKillop will become Australia's first saint.
Her canonisation will take place in Rome on Sunday 17 October 2010.

Launch of Maitland Women's Time Capture
Sr Ellen Royan was involved recently in Time Capture, a project of the newly restored and restructured Maitland Regional Art Gallery [MRAG] which was launched recently by Her Excellency Marie Bashir, Governor of NSW.  Click here for further details.

Jubilees - 31 October 2009
On Saturday October 31, 2009, three Sisters celebrated the Jubilee of their religious profession: Sr. Clare Conroy (60 years) and Srs Colleen Carney and Lynette Pearce (50 years)  Click here for Photos

School Hall named in honour of Mary MacKillop
On 9th August Holy Name School at Forster celebrated its 50th Anniversary. To mark the occasion a new school hall named in honour of Mary MacKillop was blessed and opened. For details click here.  Photos click here.

Death of Julian (Mac) Tenison Woods
On 18th June relatives and friends gathered at Northern Suburbs Crematorium for the funeral of Julian ‘Mac’ Tenison Woods, who died in Concord Hospital on 2 June, aged eighty-two

Visit of Brother David Steindl-Rast osb

The 22nd Meeting of the Federation Council 
The Leadership Teams of the five Federation branches met in Goulburn during the week of April 14th - 17th 2009. It was followed by a meeting of the ‘Conference of Josephite Leaders’ i.e. Federation and Central Josephite Leaders on Saturday April 18th 2009.  Click here for photos of The Meetings,  the Goulburn Pilgrimage and the Conference Dinner.

St. Joseph's Day 2009 - St Francis Xavier's College, Hamilton
The feastday of Saint Joseph was celebrated in a special way this year at St Francis Xavier's when some of our Sisters attended the dedication of a statue of St Joseph and the placing of a specially handsome plaque. Read more  and  In Pictures
