Closure of Cessnock
Convent
Sunday the 13th June, 2010 saw an
impressive gathering of parishioners and Sisters at the
Convent on Wollombi Rd, Cessnock to celebrate the
closure of this home of the Sisters since 1973.

Katrina Brill speaks at TWEC Dinner

dinner for the Tenison Woods Education Centre was held
in the Therry Centre East Maitland on Friday 4 June
2010. Guest speaker Sr Katrina Brill gave an
interesting and informative account of “The Ordinariness
and Extraordinariness of the Real Mary MacKillop”. For

Death of Sr Hazel Gilbert
Our dear
Sr Hazel died very peacefully on Monday 29th March 2010
in Calvary Retirement Home Allandale, aged 94 years. May
she rest in peace.

Pope Benedict XVI has announced that Mary MacKillop will
become Australia's first saint.
Her canonisation will take place in Rome on Sunday 17
October 2010.

On 9th August Holy Name School at Forster celebrated its
50th Anniversary. To mark the occasion a new school hall
named in honour of Mary MacKillop was blessed and

Death of Julian (Mac) Tenison Woods
On 18th
June relatives and friends gathered at Northern Suburbs
Crematorium for the funeral of Julian ‘Mac’ Tenison
Woods, who died in Concord Hospital on 2 June, aged

‘Josephites Journeying Together’ Retreats. Participants
and Directors included Sisters from other branches of
the Federation and every province of the Central
Josephite Sisters across New Zealand and Australia.

The 22nd Meeting of the Federation Council
The Leadership Teams of the five Federation branches met
in Goulburn during the week of April 14th - 17th 2009.
It was followed by a meeting of the ‘Conference of
Josephite Leaders’ i.e. Federation and Central
Josephite Leaders on Saturday April 18th 2009.

St. Joseph's Day 2009 - St Francis Xavier's College,
Hamilton
The feastday of
Saint Joseph was celebrated in a special way this year
at St Francis Xavier's when some of our Sisters attended
the dedication of a statue of St Joseph and the placing
of a specially handsome plaque.
