Visit of the MacKillop Cross to Lochinvar.

On 7th September, we welcomed the pilgrim Cross of Mary MacKillop into our Chapel at Lochinvar. Made of the original floorboards from the first stable school set up by Julian Tenison Woods and Mary MacKillop  at Penola in 1867, the cross stands over two metres high and is beautifully finished in a dark stain. It is a project of the Knights of the Southern Cross who have been taking it around Australia on a prayerful journey in preparation for the Canonisation on 17th October.  It’s visit gave us an opportunity to pray as well as reach out and touch those boards where our founders walked and taught all those years ago and so set in motion the System of Catholic Schools that reaches round Australia today.  Our thanks go to Mr Greg Briscoe-Hough of the Knights of the Southern Cross who organised the visit.
