Sr M Stanislaus Donnelly

Died 09 May 1949
Veronica Donnelly was born in Port Macquarie on 3 April 1886 to Arthur Donnelly and Rose Chivers. She entered the Novitiate of the Sisters of St Joseph at Lochinvar in 1902 and was given the name of Sister Mary Stanislaus.
Sister ministered in Lochinvar, Glendonbrook, Burwood, Wybong, Krambach, Kurri Kurri, Cundletown, Wingen, Cessnock, West Wallsend, Carrington, Cessnock (Mt St Joseph’s), Largs and Abermain. She was an excellent music teacher who endured much suffering during her life and also towards its close, with a quiet smile. Of a deeply spiritual nature, prayer was the thing that mattered with her.
Sister Mary Stanislaus died on the 9 May, the day preceding the opening day of the Sisters’ annual retreat. She was thus granted her wish that the whole Community could be around her in her hour of need.
His Lordship presided at the solemn obsequies for Sister Mary Stanislaus in the presence of many priests. She was buried in the Sisters’ section of St Patrick’s cemetery, Lochinvar.
