‘Sisters of St Joseph Award’ 2024

Recently the Diocesan Schools community gathered for
the Called to Serve Mass that celebrates the commitment of our teachers and
support staff.
Bishop Michael Kennedy
who presided at the Mass in the Sacred Heart Cathedral said the occasion was an opportunity for the Catholic school
community to express their commitment to serve the mission of Jesus Christ in
the ministry of Catholic school education.

It is also the occasion for the presenting of the
Emmaus Awards.  These awards recognise
the significant and often extraordinary contribution made by individuals and
communities in many areas of school life.
Bishop Michael Kennedy and Head of Catholic
Schools, Steve Lemos presented the awards.

The Sisters
of St Joseph Award given each year in recognition of the Sisters’ contribution
to education in the diocese over many years is given for exceptional leadership.  This year
Sr Carmel Hanson,
Congregational Leader of the Sisters, was delighted to present the award to Crystal Simon of the Holy Name Primary
School, Forster.
The
citation spoke of Crystal’s leadership in faith, and her work for equity and
justice in the Great Lakes communities.

Congratulations to Crystal and the many others whose service has been
recognised and celebrated.
