Died 21 January 1945

Alice Agnes was a native of Largs, born there on 27 July 1898 to Austin Davoren and Susan Maher. She was a pupil of the Sisters there and followed in their footsteps by devoting her life to religious teaching, entering at Lochinvar on 19 March 1920. She was professed on 3 January 1923 as Sr M Malachy of St Joseph.

Full of zeal and energy, she spent twenty-five fruitful years in religion, endearing herself to all with whom she came in contact ministering in Lochinvar, The Junction, Merriwa, Charlestown and Wingham.

Her last appointment was in Wingham.  From there she was admitted to the Mater Hospital at Waratah. A critical operation was successfully performed but she did not rally and passed away in perfect peace and resignation on Sunday, 21 January 1945 at 9.40a.m.

Sister Mary Malachy's mortal remains were brought to Lochinvar on the Sunday afternoon at 3.30 p.m.  After her funeral Mass in the convent chapel she was laid to rest in the Sisters' section of the Lochinvar cemetery.
